In the last few months, I've been carrying these little sketchbooks in my bag. I'm a small purse type of girl (I just bought
this one by Clare Vivier and I love it) so I need equally tiny sketchbooks to fit in my bag. These ones by
Clairefontaine come in cheerful colors, the paper is good quality and they're lightweigh, perfect little things. And cheap enough that you don't mind if they get wrecked or stained (see second picture). Right now I'm being unloyal and using
these ones made by Kunst and Papier, with better paper quality, and equally as tiny. One of my other things I always have in my bag is my
Faber-Castell perfect pencil.
This post reminds me that I never show sketchbook pages around here, mostly finished artwork. But I might change that and make regular posts with sketches, since I'm constantly making doodles that never see the light of day. I hope you enjoy them!

ReplyDeleteYo siempre llevo bolsos grandes así que uso una moleskine 'sketchbook' de tapa dura, el papel es muy gordo y suave... Después uso mi portaminas rosa de pilot :P

DeleteYo antes llevaba bolsos grandes, usaba Moleskine "sketchbook" como tu, pero de tanto trabajar en el ordenador solía tener problemas en hombros y cuello. Ahora intento llevar lo imprescindible :)
i know it's trite, but I love moleskine notebooks. there is something about the elastic band and the pocket in the back I like. But I also recently tried whiteline paper and it scans in nicely but still has a grid (works well with my phone too).The packing/binding isn't as nice though.

Angie, I had never heard about Whiteline paper, what a cool concept! I used to love Moleskines, and used the diary every year, you can see it in my collages. But the sketchbooks were so nice, I was always afraid of doing a bad drawing and wasting the paper. With these ones I don't get that feeling :)

I've been using cheap A5 sketchbooks, but since I try not to carry a bag with me if I don't need to (only a tiny one on my hips), I finally decided to use a tiny Moleskine that U gave me few years ago, with sx-70 sticker:) It's too nice to use it, still..I took it to China in 2011 and didn't draw a thing in it.. I hope it will change now..:)
ReplyDeleteI used to carry a set of permanent markers with me all the time (I used to draw a lot of portraits then), but now I only carry an automatic pencil.. and don't draw a lot when I'm out:/
Oh, but you have to use the Moleskine I gave you, that's what it's for! Altough I understand that feeling of having something too nice to use :)

I use mostly Moleskine sketchbooks (all types and sizes), and like to carry a Faber-Castell Pitt artist pen or a Uni Pin fine line with me, just in case. That Faber-Castell perfect pencil sounds good too!
ReplyDeleteThe only bad thing about these sketchbooks is that they're a bit elusive, they're hard to find. I ended up ordering a big batch so I don't run out. The Faber-Castell pencil is pretty awesome, yes! And the eraser is also good, which is hard to find on these kinds of pencils.
