Messing around

I'm currently working on a new website/blog redesign, so excuse me if this space looks a bit weird while I mess around with the CSS and HTML. Meanwhile, a small sketch to celebrate that fall is finally here. Yay!

Deep blue sea

There's been quite a lot of knitting around here, and these are two of my latest FOs. I knit the shawl following this wonderful pattern, Aranami, and I decided to knit a matching hat with my own improvised design, featuring a scalloped pattern ther resemble the waves of the shawl. I'm also knitting a breton/mariniere style sweater that I hope I can show soon. And still, it's not feeling like fall over here :D

I'm about to finish the book that's been keeping me so busy lately. Meanwhile, here's another personal illustration I made to test some new brushes and textures. I hope you like it! :D

Lately

Last week I turned 32 and I celebrated it splurging on the most beautiful shoes ever, the Nesbit Oxford from Samantha Pleet's collection for Wolverine 1000 Mile. I had been lusting over these shoes since I saw the lookbook on Miss Moss back in May, and finally I took the decision to purchase them. I must say I don't regret it, they're gorgeous and super comfy, with the perfect heel height. And the people at Frances May were super helpful finding the perfect size. Now, if only it would cool down a bit around here so I could wear this instead of sandals...

Also, despite being so busy working on the new book, I've managed to finish knitting this cardigan in a cashmere and alpaca blend. Again, I'm longing for fall badly!

And last, a totally gratuituous photo of Maggie in her favorite box, in her signature pose. It cracks me up everytime I see her like this!

Summer wardrobe

Hey! How are you doing? I'm still crazy busy working on the book I told you on my last post, but I just remembered this illustration I made some time ago and decided to share it with you. Just some of my summer wardrobe essentials I drew for fun. Right on time for fall, how timely, right? I hope you've all had a great summer!

Busy times

The last few weeks I've been extremely busy since I'm working on a new illustrated book that keeps me in my studio most of the time. Luckily, it's a really fun commission and I'm enjoying my confinement quite a lot.

But a couple of weeks ago I sneaked some free time and went on a short trip to the pyrenees. It was great to spend some time in the small village where I spent so much time as a kid, and hiking in those beafutiful mountains. There was also great food involved, including lots of wild berries. I came back with my eyes full of green, my heart full of happiness and my body full of energy.

Atelier de beauté

Remember that project with the french toy company Djeco I told you about some months ago? Well, I got my samples of the final product yesterday and I'm so happy with how this turned out! It meant a lot of hard work along with Sophie and Nathalie, but I'm very proud of the job we've done with this. It's called "Atelier de beauté" (Beauty workshop) and it's part of the "Design by" series of Djeco (which includes awesome illustrators like Rebecca Dautremer).

The workshop consists on finishing six of my watercolor girls, painting the hair and makeup yourself, adding some extra components like earrings, flowers, little animals, hairbands, and using your creativity to make them your own. Inside the super cute box, you find twelve prints of the unfinished illustrations on thick quality paper, watercolor pencils, brush, markers, two sheets of stickers, and a very helpful booklet that guides you step by step during the process.

It's destined for children from 9 to 15 years, but I'm pretty sure the little girl in me would love it (with someone else's paintings, of course). Anyway, I really hope you all like it! It was a real pleasure to work on something so different and creative, and I really look forward to work with the folks at Djeco again. Oh!! And it will be for sale worldwide very soon It's already for sale!! :D

PS. I made a small interview for the blog "Diary Sketches", if you want to check it out.

Oh, hai!

I've been fooling around with Photoshop making cat gifs. And another of my cat illustrations was featured in the awesome knitting blog "Las Teje y Maneje". I totally recommend it if you can read spanish.
