Walking girl
Yesterday I got in the mail this awesome print by Ping Zhu, and it's already hanging on my studio. I really admire her work, she has the best line work and dry brush technique. She makes me want to be unfaithful to my watercolors and have a fling with gouache.
Also, I finished knitting that striped cowl in the softest merino yarn. It's a seamless loop, the ends were grafted together and you can't notice where the ends meet. And I was interviewed here, only in spanish, sorry!

Ten Paces & Draw. Cocktails
This week I participated on the Ten Paces and Draw swap for the first time and it was so much fun! In case you don't know the project, "Ten Paces" it's a swap between illustrators with a weekly theme. You send your sketch and in a week you have to make a final illustration based in someone else's sketch. I got a sweet one from Tyler Parker and this is the result. It was great to get out of my comfort zone for a while and draw a silly underwater cocktail affair. Click here to see the rest of the swap!
Also, the story of Adrian Tomine's first New Yorker cover.

Marinière
Since I obviously don't have enough striped tops in my wardrobe (*coughs*) I decided to knit myself another one. This marinière is knit in a super soft and warm alpaca/merino blend and I made up the design myself, all in one piece with no seams following a method called "contiguous". It's the second sweater I design like this and it's so fun and rewarding, I daydream of being a knitwear designer :D
I've also been on a pizza kick lately. I discovered this no-knead, whole wheat pizza dough recipe on the Joy the baker blog and it's so easy to make you have no excuse not to. The crust is thin and tasty, topped wth homemade sauce and simple ingredients, makes a damn fine pizza.
In other news, I finished the book I was working on (yay!) and I redesigned this place as well as my website/porftolio. I hope you like it!

Messing around
I'm currently working on a new website/blog redesign, so excuse me if this space looks a bit weird while I mess around with the CSS and HTML. Meanwhile, a small sketch to celebrate that fall is finally here. Yay!

Deep blue sea
There's been quite a lot of knitting around here, and these are two of my latest FOs. I knit the shawl following this wonderful pattern, Aranami, and I decided to knit a matching hat with my own improvised design, featuring a scalloped pattern ther resemble the waves of the shawl. I'm also knitting a breton/mariniere style sweater that I hope I can show soon. And still, it's not feeling like fall over here :D

I'm about to finish the book that's been keeping me so busy lately. Meanwhile, here's another personal illustration I made to test some new brushes and textures. I hope you like it! :D

Lately
Last week I turned 32 and I celebrated it splurging on the most beautiful shoes ever, the Nesbit Oxford from Samantha Pleet's collection for Wolverine 1000 Mile. I had been lusting over these shoes since I saw the lookbook on Miss Moss back in May, and finally I took the decision to purchase them. I must say I don't regret it, they're gorgeous and super comfy, with the perfect heel height. And the people at Frances May were super helpful finding the perfect size. Now, if only it would cool down a bit around here so I could wear this instead of sandals...
Also, despite being so busy working on the new book, I've managed to finish knitting this cardigan in a cashmere and alpaca blend. Again, I'm longing for fall badly!
And last, a totally gratuituous photo of Maggie in her favorite box, in her signature pose. It cracks me up everytime I see her like this!
