Unintentional abstract paintings

This is what happens after a nice session of gouache painting. I love looking at these paper towels closely, they look like little abstract paintings. Also, I have new sweater plans, a fair isle jumper with autumn like colors. And this drawing board is coming my way, I'm sure my back will appreciate it, because after long painting sessions I always get a sore neck.

Nadia

Yesterday I spent the afternoon practicing with lights and shadows over a quick drawing from my sketchbook. It's so much fun to see the drawing come to life, I love doing these tiny pieces! In other news, the hat from the previous post is finished. Isn't the crown design beautiful?

Recent knits

I've been wearing my new green sweater all the time since I finished it last week. It's made with a super soft angora merino mix, and I designed the sweater to fit my tastes exactly (the great side of working your own patterns). It's knit in one piece, without any seaming, and the edges are finished with a tubular cast off that looks very neat. Last photo is my current project, a snowflake hat designed by Kate Davies, knit in shetland yarn.

Happy weekend everyone!

Cat faces

I recently made this repeat pattern with a bunch of silly cat faces. Now you can download these cats as wallpapers for your computer or iPhone from the Anna Goodson Management site. Enjoy!!

In the studio

Just some random snaps I've takend of my studio this morning. I change stuff on my walls often, and I love hanging inspiring art by my friends on them. The Twin Peaks postcards are a gift from Ada, who I made these mittens for. And after a long hiatus, I've started making collages again in my wall calendar and it feels so good!

Pick your own party

Here's some new work I've done for American Girl Magazine's January/February 2013 issue. I illustraded a double spread article titled "Pick your own party", with recipes for fun and simple party treats as well as decorations and games for making your party more fun. I also illustrated a door hanger with a couple of cute birds and an insert color-in poster with the same theme as the party spread. This was such a fun commission, thank you Paula! :)

You can see these illustrations with more detail in my portfolio.

Lunch break

A piece I made recently for my portfolio, just a couple of dapper monsters during their lunch break and a little girl in a striped top. It was so much fun to work on this piece!
