Around the studio
This week's been all about a new exciting job, bad weather and cozy cats. I finally splurged and bought a Wacom Cintiq 13HD, and spent tome time making a DIY stand / protective cover for it. It helps me have a better posture while working, and I can slide the tablet underneath when I'm not using it to avoid Maggie using it as a napping spot. She's definitely more comfy on a rumpled mohair blanket while there are thunderstorms outside.
Have a great weekend everyone! :)

Cactus Flower
I don't know if you follow Gems, one of Mallory's wondeful blogs, but you should, it's always full of awesomeness and inspiration. Anyway, thanks to one of her movie posts, I watched this film called Cactus Flower from 1969, starring Goldie Hawn, Walter Matthau and Ingrid Bergman. The movie is quite charming but most of all, the cuteness of Goldie Hawn in this movie is unbelievable. She's just adorable in each and every scene, and she has the most awesome 60s short hairdo. Of course, I had to do a quick painting of her in my sketchbook.

Breaking Bad cross-stitch
I'm a HUGE Breaking Bad fan, it's my favorite show of all time, hands down. So when I came across these amazing Breaking Bad Iotacons by Andy Rash, I just knew I had to make them in cross-stitch, since it's basically the same as pixel art. I hadn't used thread and needle since I was about fourteen years old, but it's like riding a bike, you don't forget how to do it. This was so much fun to do and it will remind me of how awesome Breaking Bad is once it's over this year :(
Anyway, now I feel very tempted to do an Indiana Jones one. Or maybe just cross-stitch everything!

The mother of dragons
This week I had the pleasure of taking part on the Game of Thrones themed art swap at Ten Paces & Draw. I sent the sketch of Ygritte below and got back one of Daenerys and her dragons. It was pretty awesome to draw one of my favorite characters from the books, and now I can't seem to stop sketching every lady on GOT.

The leopard coat
Another gouache girl from my new sketchbook. Painting leopard print is fun!
On a different note, I'm currently reading and loving Relish, the latest graphic novel by Lucky Knisley. I'm a big fan of her work (I have the "Cat Moves" poster at home and It's awesome) so when I heard she was finally releasing this memoir I just had to get it. I was raised by foodies in a culture that praises food above anything else, so I'm feeling very identified with some of the parts of the book. What are you reading right now?

Boardwalk Empire
I just finished knitting this vest, right on time for spring. It's perfect for layering, and cozy without being too warm. The pattern is Boardwalk by Heidi Kirrmaier, from the Brooklyn Tweed Wool People collection.
Also, if you're following this blog with Google Reader, you must know that Google Reader is shutting down, and it will not be available after July 1, 2013. If you want to keep getting updates from my blog, I really recommend you follow me on Bloglovin' from now on. It's the tool I use for keeping up with blogs and it's prety awesome :)

Singing the blues
Lots of girls live in my new sketchbook, made out of gouache. This one appeared a couple days ago, singing the blues, inspired by this amazing photo set.
