Hi everyone! You might have noticed I haven't updated this blog in quite a long time... Well, I just have been using Tumblr a lot more lately, and it's easier and faster to use. It's too time consuming to update both blogs, so from now on, I'll only be updating my Tumblr blog.
You can sign up for updates on Bloglovin' here. Thanks for understanding! :D

Orange is the new black
I’ve been drawing some of the Orange is the New Black ladies in anticipation of the release of Season 3. I’m so excited to binge watch it all! I still have a lot more characters to paint, but I have plenty of space in my sketchbook! :D

Valentino Pre-Fall 2015
I recently shared on Instagram this process picture of a watercolor painting. I fell in love with this gorgeous Valentino dess from the Pre-Fall 2015 collection the minute I saw it, it's the most beautiful and dreamy dress I've ever seen. Since I obviously can't afford it, I thought I might as well paint it. My new motto!
I add a closeup picture of the illustration, because the scanner can't capture the beauty of gold and silver gouache.

Peony
It's starting to feel like spring here, and soon all the flowers will be in bloom. I spent this weekend with my family walking in the sun, eating outside and enjoying every moment. Now, time to go back to work!

Play with me
My cat Maggie loves playing with tin foil balls. This one is painted in sparkly silver gouache in real life, it's a shame the scanner can't show that. Happy Caturday!

Vintage gloves redux
My mum bought this pair of shetland wool gloves in London back in the late 60s. As you can see in the last three pictures, they've been very well worn and loved (by both of us) and they have holes in most of the fingers and the cuff. They're also (most probably) child sized, because they're too small for me, and I have tiny hands.
Anyway, I decided to create a replica of these vintage gloves, using Shetland wool like the original pair, but with a few improvements. I made a small alteration to the chart, added a longer, tighter cuff to keep my wrists snug, and knit the fingers longer so the gloves fit my hands nicely. Now I hope this new pair will last as long as my mum's. Who knows? Maybe in other 40 years someone will be knitting a replica of mine :)

Töölönlahti
The other day I shared a progress photo of this piece on Instagram, and here's the final illustration! It's inspired by one of the nicest places I visited in Helsinki last Autumn,Töölönlahti Bay, with it's amazing houses and friendly ducks.

Toothy
A toothy lady I painted in my sketchbook while testing the White Nights Watercolors I bought as a souvenir in Helsinki. They're super pigmented, I love them!

Quiz the season
Last year I illustrated an 8 page quiz for the 2014 Holiday special of American Girl Magazine, but I haven't been able to share these until now. These were o much fun to make, specially the girl walking the dogs! This is a selection of my faves, but you can see the whole spread (with lots more spot illos) on my website.

Dalahäst mittens
Things have been a bit crazy in the beginning of this new year. 2015 started with a new super fun commission, and I've been glued to my desk since then. However, I still managed to knit these Dalahäst mittens for a dear friend in Canada. I hope they keep her hands warm and cozy!

Recent sketches
Here are some little drawings from my sketchbook I never posted here, all done with watercolors and experimenting with linework. Lately I've been sharing more of this "sketchy" stuff on my Twitter, Facebook and Tumblr and I've neglected this space a little... so, follow me over there if you want to stay updated!

Autumn is coming
Inspired by the current season, I designed this pattern with watercolor leaves. You can get it as a great number of products (like tote bags, phone cases, prints, mugs...) on my Society6 store.

Bitchface
Last week I talked a little about my work and process at the Open File event organized by Garabato Fest, a super fun Illustration Festival from Sevilla, Spain. I created this Bitchface illustration to show the attendants the different steps I take from the pencil sketch (or fully digital sketch) to the finished illustration, and all the small tweaks and changes it goes through in the process. Now you can see it on this handy GIF :)

Le Rouge
The finished illustration from this Instagram sneak peek. It's loosely based on a photo of Jeanne Damas from The Coveteur.

Fig Newton
Just another little sketch of Fig Newton, the magical creature that belongs to my friend Charlyn from Hopscotch. Check out her amazing painted wooden dolls on her Etsy store :)

Been caught stealing
I just came back from a wonderful trip to Finland. I've absolutely fallen in love with Helsinki's architecture, nature, people and food, and now I daydream about living there... September has been a hectic month between work, attending a friend's wedding in Sicily and the Finland trip, and now I have six rolls of film to scan and share. I also Instagrammed the hell out of it all.
Meanwhile, here's a silly illustration of a cookie stealing kitty. Inspired by this.
